Gertex and COVID-19

March 24, 2020 Update


We want to provide you with an update on the COVID-19 pandemic and business closures as they relate to our operations. Gertex Solutions is considered a critical part of the supply chain as defined by the Ontario government, and we will continue to operate.

 

Premier Ford announced the mandatory closure of all non-essential businesses in Ontario beginning on Wednesday, March 25. As a packaging solutions provider, Gertex is considered a critical part of the supply chain for our customers in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods spaces, and thus we will remain open during the closure. Our customers rely on our packaging products, materials, and services to ensure the availability of essential goods to those who need them most.

 

The safety and well-being of our employees, partners, and customers is our primary concern during this crisis. All of our non-essential staff are working remotely, and those who are required to be on-site are taking every precaution to limit the potential spread of the virus.

March 17, 2020 Update


We want to provide you with an update on the steps that Gertex has taken to address the challenges that are arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


The safety and well-being of all our customers, partners and employees remain our focus, and our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by this outbreak. We have been closely monitoring the situation and following the guidance, advice, and direction from the government, healthcare professionals in Canada, and the World Health Organization.


Gertex has taken precautionary measures and adjusted our operations to ensure the health and well-being of our employees are maintained as we remain fully operational. Some of these adjustments include:

  • Limiting entry to our buildings to allow only essential personnel
  • Increase in frequency of our sanitation and cleaning processes
  • Internal communications stressing the importance of proper hand washing
  • Instructing all staff to stay home if they or anyone they are in direct contact with has experienced symptoms or COVID-19 or if they have recently traveled outside of Canada for at least two weeks


Continuing to serve all of our stakeholders, and operate in a “business as usual” manner as best we can with no interruption to our supply chain, is a top priority. Still, we realize that the COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving, and we may be required to take additional action to protect our employees. We will be sure to provide you with prompt communication as the situation continues to change.
